Periyar National Park: Beauty of Wild Life

  If the Periyar National Park is called Elephants' house then there will probably be no obscurity. Yes, this National Park is specially famous for the protection of elephants. 

  Although a large part of this national park is also reserved for tiger conservation. Periyar National Park is the main national park of India. Particularly that Periyar National Park is the beautiful and scenic garden of South India. 
  This beautiful garden of the Western Ghats of Kerala province of India is in fact a wildlife sanctuary. Apart from elephants, tigers, wild animals, wild pigs, sambhar, bears, cheetahs, leopards, deer etc. are preserved in this beautiful national park.
 Experts believe that this National Park was established in 1950. Periyar National Park was declared a special protected area under the Elephant Protection Project during the year 1998.
  However in the year 1978 it was declared a Tiger Reserve. Periyar National Park has all the necessary services available for tourists.

  The best time to visit Periyar National Park is the period from October to June. Various species of flora and fauna are preserved. So the environment is very much appreciated by a special aroma. Experts believe that more than 170 plantations and over 140 species of flowers are preserved here. 
  This area is especially famous as cardamom hills. Periyar National Park, situated at an altitude of about 2019 meters above sea level, keeps almost every treasure of beauty in nature. In this magnificent sanctuary, the Periyar Lake and the Mullaperiyar dam are the splendor of Periyar National Park. 
  The Mullaperiyar Dam was constructed in about 1895. So, it can be considered in the country's oldest dam. Particularly that the climate of Periyar National Park is very cool and quiet. Therefore, tourists in Periyar National Park feel calm cool. It can also be called storage area of ​​semi-flora. 
   Specially that there is a long chain of tea plantations, coffee plantations and cardamom gardens in this area. Experts believe that there are 24 Bengal Tigers in this beautiful sanctuary. Not only that, more than 265 species of birds are preserved in Periyar National Park. 
   A long series of other wildlife including snakes, crocodiles, lizards and turtles are preserved in this huge sanctuary. A large range of rivers, lakes and waterfalls give shelter to fishes and aquatic life. Specifically species of fishes like Periyar Trout, Periyar Latia, Periyar Kantia, Chana Bania, Travancore Elastic etc. appear to be fluttering in rivers, lakes and waterfalls.
  Experts believe that more than 160 butterflies species make the environment of Periyar National Park even more beautiful. These are especially lime butterfly, Malabar tree apsara, Travancore evening brawan, etc.
   All necessary resources are available for the trip to Periyar National Park. The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport. The nearest railway station is Idukki Junction. Distance from Idukki junction to Periyar National Park is about 60 km. Tourists can also visit Periyar National Park by road.
